The Sarasota Folk Club is a Florida 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization keeping the traditions of Folk Music a living part of the Sarasota community. The Club sponsors folk concerts on the last Monday of each month at the Sailing Squadron, 1717 Ken Thompson Pkwy in Sarasota. We sponsor a Folk Festival in March. Throughout the year house concerts featuring talented local and touring folk musicians are held in the home of members.

Membership There is a membership fee of $20.00 per household due May 1 of each year. Email reminders of the ongoing Club sponsored events and special emails are sent out as needed. We consider our Club performance area to be from Bradenton south to Punta Gorda. All members are invited to Club board meetings. To join the Sarasota Folk Club, send $20.00, your name, address, phone number and email address to: Carolyn Dunn, Sarasota Folk Club Treasurer, 5874 Madison Rd; Venice, FL 34293. You may pay online (use the Donate button on the front page) and email your contact information to carolyn.dunn@usa.net

Our Website: Any area folk performer, agent, venue or concert producer may contact the webmaster to have a folk concert or performance listed on the Area Folk Events page. We only list events in our area (Bradenton to Punta Gorda).

House Concerts: Throughout the year, folk club members host local and touring musicians for intimate house concerts. Small audiences and chatting with the performers make many folks consider this the best way to hear folk/acoustic music. For information about attending or hosting a House Concert, contact Lu Winberg at 941-918-8333 or winberg@comcast.net.

Friends of Florida Folk, Inc. (FOFF): The Folk Club is a member of FOFF and since you are a folk enthusiast, we would encourage you to become a member of Friends of Florida Folk, Inc. FOFF is a non-profit organization that supports folk arts throughout the state. FOFF members receive through the mail the monthly FOFF newsletter that includes folk related articles and a calendar of statewide folk events and festivals. The FOFF website (www.foff.org) includes membership information and a statewide calendar of events. The FOFF membership fee is $25 per year. To have your "gigs" included in the state FOFF newsletter and website, email news@foff.org

WSLR Radio: WSLR 96.5 FM is an innovative, listener-supported, non-profit, non-commercial FM radio station dedicated to serving the Sarasota community WSLR features locally produced programming and presents cultural, artistic, and political perspectives currently underrepresented in the media. Our goal is to inform and empower listeners to play an active role in WSLR and in their community. WSLR’s programming promotes equality, peace, sustainability, democracy, and social and economic justice. www.wslr.org

WMNF Radio: If you're in the listening area, tune into WMNF radio, FM 88.5, in Tampa for excellent folk music. The FOFF website has listings of folk shows. Or you can go on the Internet at www.wmnf.org to see the schedule, hear the live broadcasts, or make a request. Archives are available worldwide, so anyone anywhere can enjoy WMNF. Some of our Club members occasionally serve as DJs on folk shows.
